Having moved to Gwinnett County from Atlanta, Sherry recognized the lack of hot power yoga classes or heated yoga studios in Gwinnett County. She drove 35 miles to get to hot yoga studios or studios that offered heated yoga classes, which made it very difficult to keep up her regular practice. Realizing that other Gwinnett yogis were doing the same, Sherry knew she had to bring hot yoga to Gwinnett County, and is excited to have founded Gwinnett’s first hot yoga studio in the heart of Downtown Lawrenceville in 2017.
Sherry’s classes are moving meditations set to dynamic, energetic playlists with powerful and transformative themes. Her favorite part about teaching yoga is watching her students move together in harmony and rhythm like a dance, hearing their synchronized breath, and feeling their powerful group energy. Sherry started teaching vinyasa yoga in Atlanta in 2008, and then in 2015, she was chosen as one of the first Hot Power Yoga and Yoga Sculpt teachers for CorePower Yoga when they opened in Atlanta. Hot Power Yoga and Yoga Sculpt transformed her practice into new levels she never knew were possible. While teaching Hot Power Yoga and Yoga Sculpt are what she loves most, Sherry is also certified to teach Yin, Yoga Nidra, Barre, and mat Pilates. She is a 500-hour Registered Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance, a Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider (YACEP), and a Lead Trainer for her own 200-hour Teacher Training program, which offers a certification accredited by Yoga Alliance. Sherry trains and mentors all of her studio’s teachers in her signature PPY Method to provide consistent, safe, and purposeful experiences for everyone at PPY.
Sherry is also a founding partner of Lankford & Moore Law, also located in Downtown Lawrenceville. As a Georgia-licensed attorney, she offers legal services, counsel, and mentorships to Yoga Teachers and Yoga Studio Owners. Sherry’s greatest joy is training, mentoring, and counseling yoga professionals and helping them thrive and protect their heart-centered businesses and offerings. Yoga balances Sherry’s life by offering her a yin to the yang of her attorney career. She believes that everyone can benefit from yoga like she does, especially those in high-stress professions. She is honored to serve as a community leader in Lawrenceville.
