Why Power Yoga?

I decided to train/teach power yoga because I needed a challenge. Power yoga is a type of practice I would run away from because it is more strenuous than traditional yoga, but I knew the benefits of power yoga would outweigh my personal procrastination and laziness. Once you have power yoga in your practice consistently it shows how powerful you are physically and mentally.

What is your favorite yoga pose?

Frog Pose

What are 3 words to describe your yoga classes?

Freedom, calm, and Inspirational.

What is the one thing you wish you knew before the training began?

I would suggest to just do it. You will learn a lot about yourself and your personal practice. I feel like if you can teach yoga and cue someone through a pose safely and successfully, you can do anything; that is how powerful teaching yoga makes you feel.

What is your advice to someone considering teacher training?

The details before the training were self-explanatory, so I cannot say there was something in particular that I wish I knew. I can say that I assumed my posture and alignment were correct in most of my yoga poses but I was wrong! I wish I knew I was doing chaturanga dandasana wrong before YTT so I could practice working on my upper body strength.

What has been your favorite part of the training?

My favorite part of the YTT training is the relationships/community you build with peers and the PPY family. Everyone is so supportive, and it really makes learning enjoyable. I loved going to class to meet with the instructors and other yogis.

What has been the hardest part of the training?

The hardest part of the training was learning through Zoom when Covid-19 did not allow us to meet in person. That is when we began learning how to teach and it was difficult sequencing through Zoom.
